Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2024-05-05T11:30Z ( DSCOVR: PLASMAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
DSCOVR: PLASMAG
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
Activity ID: 2024-05-05T11:30:00-IPS-001 (version 2)
Quality of ICME Signature: 1 (lacks some signatures)
Note: A very gradual ICME signature (likely a flank impact/glancing blow) which on 2024-05-06 is followed by/gets overlapped with the onset of a coronal hole high speed stream. There is no shock but a steady growth in magnetic field from 2nT to 16nT on 2024-05-06, accompanied by rotation of all 3 magnetic field components, with a prolonged bout of negative Bz (below 10 nT) on the evening of 2024-05-05. There is an initial build up of ion density and temperature, followed by drops in both parameters.
